Jarvis Conservatory's Annual Holiday Choral Concert Featuring the Napa High School Chamber Choir December 11th The 49-voice Napa High School Chamber Choir, established in 1982 by conductor Travis Rogers, is the most advanced of nine different performing choral ensembles at the school that has over 350 singers enrolled in at least one choir. Napa High School Choirs have traveled the world, most recently performing at several venues in France, including Notre Dame and the American Cemetary at Normandy this past spring. They will be making their debut performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City this coming February. The group. along with the school's large Concert Choir, has won the first place award ten times in the last fifthteen years at the California Golden State Invitational Choral Festival, the state's most prestigious competition for high school choirs. The Chamber Choir's repertorie during the holiday season features a wide variety of carols, classical works and novelty selections including a piece comissioned by the choir for performances this December, a new setting of the old English text "There Is No Rose of Such Virtue" by California composer Kevin Memley. The performance at the Jarvis Conservaotry will include selections performed by the entire choir, by the separate Men's and Women's Choruses and by the female and male quartets and a 12-member pop acapella group, Vocal Music Workshop directed by Jamie Butler.
