The 4th Annual Classical Arts Film Festival

AWARDS Announcement


The Jarvis Conservatory and The Classical Arts Film Festival are honored to have been able to exhibit the selected twelve unique films during the 2019 event. All participating filmmakers received an official selection certificate. Each film highlighted different aspects of a life dedicated to this profession and all are cinematic treasures. Of these twelve outstanding films, this year the festival selected five films with a recognition of excellence. The winning category filmmakers each will receive a Jarvis Award Plaque to honor their accomplishment.


Here are the winners of the 4th Annual Classical Arts Film Festival:


Jarvis Award for AUDIENCE CHOICE:

SIRENS TANGO

Written and Directed by Lisa Le Lievre

Sirens Tango entices the audience with a poetic grandeur through dance. Temptation and courtship are celebrated in this beautifully executed game of chance narrative.


Jarvis Award for BEST DOCUMENTARY FILM:

ANDRE VAN DAMME & THE STORY OF THE CHARLESTON BALLET

Andre Van Damme & The Story of the Charleston Ballet is an engaging testament to legacy and the determination of a community to keep it alive.


Jarvis Award for BEST SCRIPT:

RESERVATIONS

Directed and Produced by Todd Felderstein

Written by Jeffrey Fischer-Smith, Julie Nichols, Todd Felderstein

Starring: Dale Raoul & Ray Thompson


A whirlwind of emotion packed into this well crafted narrative. Reservations masterfully illustrates one of life’s hardest challenges and does so with a beautifully scripted pun.


Jarvis Award for BEST SHORT FILM:

DUET

Directed by Andrew Coll

Produced by Mohammad Mallahi, Andrew Coll


Duet is a beautifully conceived celebration of the Classical Arts on film. Not just your standard man versus himself theme as the protagonist conquers his stage fright, but also a wonderful reminder that we all walk through the same shoes.


Jarvis Award for BEST OF FESTIVAL:

WHEN I DANCE

Directed and Produced by Signe Roderik


Signe Roderik carefully illustrates the dedication to a life in the classical arts by crafting an innocent narrative structured through the eyes of young performers. This clever manipulation allows the audience to let down their guard and dream. Every child that enters the dance profession should see this film.
