LA SCALA COMES TO JARVIS CONSERVATORY Ê

The recent METROPOLITAN OPERA production of The Barber of Seville shown at the Jarvis Conservatory was successful beyond imagination. This was a stellar addition to Leticia Jarvis' new Art Film series at the Conservatory. Now it will be followed by an opera direct from the famous Italian Opera Company, LA SCALA. This means that within the space of three months, Napa audiences will have been able to see the two top opera companies in the world presenting two of their finest and best known productions.

These showings are made possible by the Conservatory's connections in the opera community and its new technical capability of being able to pull down opera productions direct from the internet and thus virtually presenting a live performance. In addition, High Definition digital capability offers the operas in vibrant color and superb sound.

The production of The Barber of Seville was one of the most beautiful productions ever performed at the MET and literally thrilled the Jarvis Conservatory audience. Next will be the Conservatory's showing of Aida from LA SCALA on December 22nd; another once in a lifetime experience available to Napa audiences. There is no guarantee that there will be more opera showings of this nature in Napa, so see them while you can.

Mixed with these famous operas, on alternate Saturday nights, Leticia Jarvis selects current art films for showings. Coupled with the Saturday Opera Night (live) on the first Saturday of each month, and other special live presentations, there is a Conservatory attraction every Saturday of the month.
