The untimely death of Vladislav Ponomarov, the General
Manager of Jarvis Conservatory, causes us to discontinue for
now the showing of Saturday Art Films.
It's important to note that "It's a Grand Night for
Singers" will continue as usual at 7 p.m. on the
first Saturday of each month as it has for the last
16 years without a single interruption. The Napa and
Sonoma communities have grown to depend on this
monthly performance as a brilliant showcase for
singers from the San Francisco Bay Area and a
marvelous night of live entertainment for audiences
from far and near.
Richard Evans continues to host this grand singing
tradition with the next performance at 7 p.m. Feb. 4
in honor of the life of Vladislav. Mr. Evans, the
consumate pianist and showman, makes these
performances exciting, bringing to life the last
four centuries of grand music traditions as he
introduces the singers who perform pieces from a
world repertory of music. It is a special privilege
to have Richard Evans as host since he draws upon
his rich experience as a contemporary Broadway
composer.
